Going to Mars: The Nikki Giovanni Project
Although I came on at the very end of this project it was an honor to work on a film about the life of poet Nikki Giovanni.
This film also looks at the revolutionary historical periods through which she lived, from the Civil Rights Movement to Black Lives Matter.

Working on the project
As Assistant Editor I came on to help prepare and deliver scenes to Sundance for their festival submission in 2023. I replaced the archival with licensed assets, color corrected, exported, and uploaded for review. The film went on to win the 2023 Grand Jury Prize, directed by Michèle Stephenson and Joe Brewster.
